Is the bag 17 inches or 18? The bag body is 18″ wide; the laptop compartment takes machines up to 17″. The extra inch is what lets a 17″ laptop actually slide in.

Is it too big for daily commuting? It's deliberately oversized. If you carry a 17″ laptop plus books it's right; for a 15.6″ machine the DEKVIO 15.6″ messengers are a better match.

How heavy is it empty? 3 lb — the leather is thick, which is why it survives being loaded to capacity every day.

Is the leather real? 100% full-grain leather — the top layer of the hide, not split or bonded. Every bag's grain is slightly different.
